JUST SAY NO to WAL-MART

the following is from the American Family Association and information I have kept up with lately:

Wal-Mart has gone on record that they are an advocate for the homosexual agenda. In the Out & Equal 2006 Workplace Summit Program Guide, Wal-Mart placed a full-page ad which explicitly stated that it would be an advocate for the homosexual movement. Keep in mind this ad was developed for the homosexual conference and aimed at participating homosexual groups.

Not only did Wal-Mart place the ad in the program guide, they also gave $60,000 to Out & Equal, a homosexual organization pushing the same-sex agenda, including same-sex marriage, in the workplace. Out & Equal served as conference host and the donation went to help sponsor the Out & Equal Workplace Summit held this past September in Chicago.

The purpose of the conference was to train homosexuals to convince the companies for which they work to support the homosexual agenda and to encourage other companies to do the same.

At the conference, Pride, Wal-Mart’s in-house homosexual group, presented a PowerPoint presentation detailing how they were successful in getting Wal-Mart to support the homosexual agenda. The PowerPoint presentation, telling Pride’s story, contains 51 frames. Each page of the presentation contains the line “Confidential Wal-Mart Stores, Inc.” It was used to encourage conference participants to follow Pride’s example in the companies for which they work.

Millions of Americans are not aware of Wal-Mart’s support for homosexual marriage. PLEASE LET ALL YOUR FRIENDS AND FAMILY KNOW THIS INFORMATION!

(And Richard, if you read this, thanks for leaving Wal-Mart so I can post this)

Peter,
The purpose of Wal-Mart is not to spread the Christian message. It is however, to increase sales and increase stock value for the shareholders. On the short side, gay people have more expendable income. Not to generalize(you know how I hate such), but typically they do not have children to support. Therefore...more expendable income. Target has been gay friendly for years, especially when it comes to trendy home furnishings and accesories. Wal-Mart is trying to tap into that business. However, having such a strong presense in the Bible Belt, they are taking a chance. Many Southerners need Wal-Mart because of the low prices. In effect, Wal-Mart boosts the cost of living for the poor due to initial buying power. Target typically runs 10-12% higher, and K-Mart is pushing 15%. The question for the consumer in the South is ....do I take a stand and become initially poorer hoping that Wal-Mart will eventually change it's stance. However, it is also foolish to take a stand against Wal-Mart when we do not know the business practices of every other business, nor do we really care. For example, Do we go into Subway and ask for the owner and ask him to sign an abstract of principles before we will buy a footlong sub. If he believes half of what we believe, can we buy a 6 inch? This sounds like some of that quack Don Wildman's antics. Another example of a small segment of the faith making a statement of ethic for the entire group. Beware of people who think for you!! People who say, "A good Christian will do this, or will not do that." This, in my opinion is an insult to the intelligence of believers. I think we should make stands, when we are lead by the Spirit, not when a group says so.

Now, I am not pro-Wal-mart, I am however stating the flaws in reasoning with the issue. Anytime we hold one group to a standard that we fail to hold another...it is the highest form of hypocrisy.

Consistancy is the key, and my approach is that we as belevers will catch more bees with honey than with horsecrap.

Guess what? I love you although we do not always agree. By the way, Sarah is at Wal-Mart shopping, as we speak.

When we play putt putt, We will discuss further.

naked preacher,

We have lots to discuss then over putt-putt

Thanks for your info of Target, also, being gay friendly. I do think they suffered greatly in a small boycott just last year because they weren't allowing their advertisements, decorations, and even employees go with the "Christmas", and giving instead into the "holiday" stuff.

I have seen this info in other baptist sites and only today received a fwd email from a brother in Christ. I am no longer (as i use to be) on the AFA mail-outs because i thought they over did things like this.

YES! you always make me think and for that I take heart.

So here is my question for you to actually update your blog on :-) ; If gays have more expendable income, does the church accept it (i.e. tithe, offering, building commitment, etc)? And since we are asking the question, does the church take the lottery winner's money?

Wal-Mart has also faced a huge amount of public scrutiny due to lawsuits of Gender discrimination. This is legal wrangling is still on going, and has lead to changes in policy and pushing females up the ranks.

With this gender issue, the next lawsuit that would be coming would be from the homosexual front.

For example, Wal-mart supports local churches, since they are non profits with scholarship monies. Wal-Mart has a fair amount of money per store to put back into the local communities with matching grants. Here is the issue that is fueling this..I think. That is other than the bottom line of profit and expendable income. If Wal-Mart gives a grant to a local parish to assist in rebuilding the church or for a youth program, then, they cannot LEGALLY refuse to assist a homosexual nonprofit agency that attempts to provide care for families that are grieving due to the loss from AIDS. See..dilemmas are everywhere. That is the problem with picking on a business. It is full of slippery slopes, from a legal standpoint. As an employer you really can't win.

Same issue with the Jewish customers over "Merry Christmas." We feel strongly about waht the season should be called. However, this is again Wal-mart deciding that they MUST profit on JESUS. It is about spending power. Just a note...if there was a Wal-Mart in Jerusalem...the signs would say Happy Holidays. Which really means..HAPPY HOLY DAYS...sounds like a simple issue of semantics. We rant and rave about taking Christ out of Christmas, and in turn, we spend all kinds of money on things that kids and people do not need. We can call the season whatever we want...but most of the times it is almost totally self serving. We have that little time for Jesus, and the rest is all about the STUFF. Peter, I am not jaded, however, I do think that it is healthy to question things, and say...are we majoring on minors and minoring on majors? We miss the forest for the trees most of the time....
